Trio of Fishermen Busted for Out-of-Season Lobster

The Fisheries Department was in heavy operations country wide and while in the city on Tuesday, they came across a camp where they found three men in possession of one hundred and forty-two lobsters in the closed season. Now the lobster season is closed from February fifteenth to June fourteenth and despite the opening of the season only six days away, the men could not wait and were caught red-handed. This afternoon, fifty-four-year old Jose Garrido of Consejo Village, Corozal; fifty-three-year-old Armando Ramirez of Chula Vista, Corozal and fifty-year-old Jose Rodriguez, were all charged jointly with possession of the undersized lobsters. When the trio appeared before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza, Ramirez and Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to the charge, but Port of Stuck Camp owner, Garrido wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the offense. He was fined two hundred dollars for the offense and was additional slapped with a fine of twenty dollars for each lobster. Magistrate Mendoza ordered Garrido to pay a total of three thousand and forty five dollars by November seventh or in default one year and two months in prison.
