“Delegates must be Belizean by birth or nationalization. Dual citizenship is acceptable; however, we will not be accepting any Diaspora delegates this year due to time constraint. Miss Universe requires that a delegate establishes residency within the country of her nationality six months prior to international pageant. So we will be accepting Diaspora delegates next year as long as they agree to two conditions; one they have to establish residency and if they win, they will have to move to Belize for the twelve months of their reign. Moving along, she must be between the ages of eighteen and twenty-six years old, a natural born female; she must be single, never married, never given birth to a child. Minimum high school diploma with college aspirations; must have a positive attitude and good sportsmanship and must be of good character and never been convicted of any felony or participate in any form of pornography. Those are the requirements both of Belize and of Miss Universe and we will uphold that standard with no exceptions. This will be a documentary as well as a pageant. We have yet to select a network to be aired on; we are currently in negotiations, but cannot release any information yet. But we are also carrying a documentary of the process. There is so much more to being Miss Belize than evening gowns and swimsuits. This is not just a pageant; it is a movement. It’s a chance for us to allow our Belizean young women to express themselves, to express their culture, to really take a journey into who they are and show how much they appreciate our country.”
Final casting date is on June eighteenth with the kickoff of activities on July twenty-second. Potential delegates should log on to Miss Belize pageant dot com to apply.
So what she just said is that Belizeans living in another country attending college or working on their carrier need not apply!
How can she say Belizeans from another country can apply but make no provisions to make it possible. They have to “establish residency” in Belize to participate, but here is the kicker if she wins then she must move to Belize but needs to have college aspirations. So if their college work or their carrier means they must live in another country……then I guess they need to drop out of college put their carriers on hold and move to Belize for 12 months if they win. Now this pageant is not able to provide or will not generate a means of income for them to live for the year. This makes no sense!
I always wonder who makes up rules down there? Do they think it all the way through before they make rules?
