Music Ambassador Speaks on Upcoming Music Seminar

Shyne Barrow

The week-long activities will be held at the Memorial Park in Belize City and will feature live performances on a daily basis by some of Belize’s finest artists. But according to Barrow, the seminar will help artists to develop their brand and understand the business aspect of the music industry. Top on the agenda is the introduction of a long-awaited music policy for Belize.

Shyne Barrow, Music Ambassador, Belize

“That’s what the music week is about and that’s why I encourage the Belizean community to come out and see what your Belizeans musicians are doing. We will have the music policy introduced; we will have different guest speakers, Melissa Longsworth who deals with intellectual property to talk about the business because I teach a class every Thursday which I am teaching tomorrow. I have the vice president of Revolt TV, famous Puff Daddy, his television network; they are here to do some other business with me and I have the vice president who is going to speak to talk about the fact that this is a music business. And so we want the rest of the community to come out and realize that for these artists, this is their only way to survive. I am hoping that with the education and information, the artist will then be able to take that and create themselves to be this entity that is in demand regionally because CARICOM has sixty million people that you can tap into. Forget about America, forget about Europe; right here in the Caribbean region you have sixty million people that you can tap into. But again, you have to be competitive and again that is where the information comes in. What is competitive? Who am I competing against? What is the standard regionally and globally? Artistry is very subjective, but I am in love with the Paranda Blues, the Supa G’s the Juni Mar’s, the Ex band the Sweet Pains…I am soft on them. That dah my favorite, even though I am a rapper.  I grew up in Brooklyn so that was what I was able to master, but I think that Belize has the edge when it comes to the music that we inherited from our forefathers; as far as brukdown and paranda…even the mestizo music. And we need to go full steam into developing that because that’s what the world wants.”

Belize Music Week ends with a concert at the ITVET Compound on Sunday.

Music embassador my a…..only because of his interest in running politics and looking forward in being the next PM is that all of a.sudden he has interest on Belizean musicians. He is a fake. We had a lot of better musicians in Belize that could have represented us with dignity.

Music ambassador? What kind of crap is this? I leave for three short months and come back to find an ex gansta man, a thug, a gun for hire, a wannabe artist, as the nation’s music ambassador.

Lord God, why are you so mean spirited with us Belizeans? Why do we have to suffer so much abuse? We are your children. Please Lord God, rescue us from this misery.

I cant believe this idiot is receiving a government paycheck. Music week has traditionally focused on “cultural” music. We have had the true movers and shakers of this industry doing this type of activities for many years so this is nothing new – Shyne says forget the USA and Europe because he can’t travel to any of those places. If it wasn’t for the US and Europe, Belize music would have never reached the level of recognition it has. Ivan Duran is far more qualified and exposed than this leech. Bway Look ya shyne, go away please. You are a parasite.

No surprise here this gov hires nothing but criminals and this is one of the worse and they make him ambassador what a joke.
