Belizean and Guatemalan Ombudsmen Meet at Adjacency Zone

It mostly went under the radar, but Guatemala’s Ombudsman Jorge de León Duque, was on visit on Wednesday. According to online information, de Leon Duque met with his local counterpart, Ombudsman Lionel Arzu at the Office of the O.A.S. at the Adjacency Zone.   As far as we can tell, the O.A.S. is yet to begin an investigation but the report from Guatemala says de Leon Duque was here to “investigate the cause of death of a child under thirteen years at the hands of Belizean soldiers.”

De Leon Duque also met with Sergio Benitez, Head of Mission of the Organization of American States and David Vargas, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Guatemala in Belize.
