BWC Says Revenues Are Half What Should Be Collected

George Lamb

The crux of the matter, according to Lamb, is that vendors are refusing to defray what they consider an additional expense.  As a result, B.W.C. is realizing a little over half of what it should be collecting during the high season.

George Lamb, Manager, Belize Waste Control

“Based on the volume, we should be paid over eight to ten thousand dollars per month in peak season.  Right now we are actually collecting close to four thousand dollars or maybe a little bit above that in certain months and we have been trying hard to get the vendors to pay up.  But there seems to be a problem between FSTV and the vendors where they believe that FSTV, based on the high cost of rent in the facility, should bear the responsibility for the cost of the garbage collection from there. There’s provision for individuals its own vendors.”

News Five spoke with Elad Aharon, Director of Finance at F.S.T.V., this evening, but he declined comment on the matter.
