A Straightforward Decision was Made to Support Saldivar’s Candidacy

Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez

With the convention date set for May twenty-ninth, both candidates are canvassing delegates in the thirty-one constituencies.  That being the case, it isn’t farfetched that Patrick Faber would have approached Boots and his delegates for their votes.

“I imagine that the Honorable Patrick Faber would have put in a bid to get your support.”

Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez, Area Representative, Port Loyola

“Well I think, in terms of election, yes he did and so it was, he had to make a decision.”

“Sir, what would you say those who may feel somewhat betrayed for not keeping your vote in Belize City?”

Patrick Faber & John Sldivar

Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez

“It’s not betrayed.  I don’t think the leadership of the party is about where you come from or geographic location or ethnicity.  I think that you have a choice.  You are given choices and you weigh what choice you think is best for you and the party.  That doesn’t take away that you said that the Honorable Faber is not a formidable candidate for the post but my choice at this time is for Honorable John Saldivar.”

Isani Cayetano

“When you look at the leadership qualities of both of these individuals, was this a difficult choice for you to make in terms of lending your support or was this clear from the beginning as to who you’re standing behind?”

Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez

“Yes it was a difficult choice but, you know, we need fu go deep soul searching and I came to this decision.”
