Changes Within the People’s United Party

John Briceno

On Wednesday the P.U.P. leader named new members to the executive of the P.U.P. who will now go on to get the blessing of the National Party Council. Briceño made his moves after getting a mandate from the executive. The line-up includes the four-time area representative from Lake Independence Cordel Hyde who is proposed as national deputy party leader. Attorney Eamon Courtenay is the new National Development Strategic Director following the resignation of Victor Espat as National Campaign Manager. Ramon “Monchi” Cervantes is being replaced by Attorney Chris Coye as Treasurer while attorney Andrew Marshalleck is coming into the executive as Legal Advisor replacing Anthony Sylvester. Briceño says the changes reflect talent in the party.

John Briceño, Leader, People’s United Party

“I think that when I was elected I was given a mandate that I can try to reach out to everyone to try to put a team together that can best address the challenges that are ahead of us and to be able to get everybody under the big blue tent but at the same time for us to be able to reach out to some of the more talented people in the party. If there is one thing that I am very proud of the PUP is that we have a lot of people with talent, with dedication, with the work ethic of wanting to get things done. Wednesday’s meeting as the chairman has very well quite ably expressed and explained to the media; it is just a part of that process that the executive gave me the mandate to propose changes to the national executive and I presented those changes to the executive. It was accepted by the national executive and now I want to go one step further, we need to follow the constitution and it requires now ratification of the national party council, we will have a national party council shortly where these changes are going to be presented and we expect full ratification of those proposed changes that were made to the national executive on Wednesday.”

Other changes include the appointment of Lindsford Castillo as Secretary General.  Vaughan Gill is also to be replaced as Deputy Communications Director but the name of the person to fill these shoes is yet to be formalized.
