Where Does Deputy Party Leader Julius Espat Stand on Changes?

Deputy Party leader, Julius Espat, was at the forefront of the campaign for the re-election of Francis Fonseca as leader last November. While Fonseca and other parliamentarians are moving forward under the blue tent, Espat is holding out and did not attend Wednesday’s Executive meeting of the P.U.P. In fact he came out against the team that Briceño is proposing to strengthen the executive. Briceño says the process is democratic and it is his hope to move the party forward.

John Briceño, Leader, People’s United Party

John Briceno

“I have great respect for Deputy Leader, honorable Julius Espat; Deputy Leader for the West. I continue to reach out to him and I believe at the end of the day he will do what is in the best interest of the party and if he has the party at heart, if he has this country at heart, he is going to join with the rest of the party to move forward. We have one goal and that is for us to change this government. Tis country is desperate for a change in direction as to where this country has been going. This country is desperate for the leadership of the People’s United Party, we can provide that and I hope that Honorable Julius Espat would want to be a part of that change. Well that’s the democratic process that we live in a democratic country and we all have our own views and ideas as to how we want to move forward but there is one thing now; I mean fine you can present your views and so forth but once the party makes a decision then it is expected that all party members are going to move forward as to the direction that we as a party decided that we want to go.”
