Ashley Needs Your Prayers

Six months ago, we brought you the story of inspirational warrior Ashley, fighting a mighty battle with a virulent cancer. She and her mother Kayla had just gotten some good news – a bone marrow donor had been matched and she would receive the transplant she needed so desperately to save her life. Tonight, though, even as you listen to this story, Belizeans have gathered in the city to send spiritual support and to pray for Ashley and her mom who have received some very bad news.

Dr. Kara Almendarez, Saving Ashley

“Since the Ashley was able to get her bone marrow transplant. She did go into remission and was able to receive that particular treatment. However, on her way to recovery after her bone marrow transplant, she started having fevers and things like that…that was recently, and in doing a bone marrow aspiration they realized that the cancer had come back once again. At this point the doctors cannot find any new treatment. They don’t have any ideas at this point as to being able to do something more for Ashley at this time. So they’re sending her home to be with her mom. Right now what we’re asking for more than anything now is a lot of prayers, spiritual support, emotional support to be able to help Ashley and her mom get through this time. And also so that they know that even though they’re all the way over there they’re not alone and everybody here in Belize is rooting for them and is with them in spirit. I think honestly Kayla is one of the strongest women I’ve ever met. I think in spite of everything she remains so positive and she has so much hope still. Ashley at this point from what I’ve been able to see…I think she’s a little more down than usual. She’s not her spunky self. I know that she still has that in here, but right now I think she’s just at the point where she’s in a lot of pain.”

Doctors have tentatively given Ashley two months to live. At the vigil tonight, Belizeans will also be asked to support and pray for another young boy, Cleyon Marage, who needs an urgent surgery to save his life.

Lord Jesus, I come before Thee, just as I am, I am sorry for my sins, I repent of my sins, please forgive me. In Thy Name, I forgive all others for what they have done against me. I renounce Satan, the evil spirits and all their works. I give Thee my entire self, Lord Jesus, I accept Thee as my Lord God and Savior. Heal me, change me, strengthen me in body, soul, and spirit.

Come Lord Jesus, cover me with Thy Precious Blood, and fill me with Thy Holy Spirit, I love Thee Lord Jesus, I praise Thee Lord Jesus, I thank Thee Jesus, I shall follow Thee every day of my life. Amen.

Mary, My Mother, Queen of Peace, all the Angels and Saints, please help me. Amen.
