NEAB Says Alcohol is also a Serious Issue Facing Youths
According to President Lance Lewis, while alcoholism is an issue youths are facing, it was not discussed at today’s gathering. The concern with decriminalizing marijuana, says Lewis, is a more pressing matter that the association is firmly against.
Lance Lewis, President, NEAB
“We did not discuss alcohol but we discussed marijuana and we see it as a new thing coming up. Decriminalization of marijuana, and we feel just like how alcohol started out as an illegal drug and became legal and the tremendous destruction it has caused on the nation and on families. We see that the decriminalization of marijuana is going to go the same way and it is going to create tremendous damage. So we are in a different time and we are in different mindset. We do not want to see this happen and we will put out a paper with more details to say that this is the way to go. But for right now we are against decriminalizing. If people are going to be…the law is going to say well we are not going to put it against your record, there should be some sort of program to get them to be properly channeled to be good citizens and not to be people who will go back into weed.”
The process of the decriminalization of marijuana is yet to be finalized by government before any laws can be brought into effect.
