What Led to an Attempt on Raheem Bailey’s life?

Deon Brackett

Turning to crime…There were two shootings on the south side of Belize City over the weekend, but details have just become available from the police. The first was the shooting of nineteen year old Raheem Bailey who was injured at his home on Allan Pitts Crescent. A lone gunman reportedly rode up on bicycle and opened fire on Bailey and a friend who were standing inside the yard. Bailey was hit on the chest and both thighs and rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he remains in a stable condition. By Tuesday, Deon Brackett, a resident of Central American Boulevard, was arraigned for the attempt on the life of Bailey. Acting Regional Commander of Eastern Division South, Senior Superintendent Alden Dawson gave the media an official update on the shooting.

“It sounds like something that’s been ongoing for a while. This guy was standing in his yard and this gunman came up and fired several shots, one of which caught him to his chest.”

Duane Moody

“That is the one in reference to Mister Bailey. Were these two known to be rivals or are members of rivaling gangs? What could have led to that?”

Alden Dawson

Sr. Supt. Alden Dawson

“I don’t know them to be any rivaling gangs or such, but they are youths that grow up in the same area and might have had old beef with each other.”

Duane Moody

“Sir I know that police were on the scene shortly after and you guys processed it. The type of weapon used; has it been recovered as yet?”

Sr. Supt. Alden Dawson

“We have not recovered any weapon in this shooting.”

Duane Moody

“What led to the detention of Mister Deon Brackett for that shooting?”

Sr. Supt. Alden Dawson

“Police investigation of course Duane. We investigated and we got enough evidence so we arrested and charged Deon Brackett.”
