Harpy Employee Recounts Ordeal at Hands of Fake Policeman

On Thursday, Police issued an advisory warning the public to be aware of persons purporting to be Police officers. That advisory is a result of two incidents on Tuesday. In one of them, two Hispanic men dressed in Police uniforms gained entry to the Central Cable Company compound where they relieved the watchman of his weapon. In the other, a man got into the office of Harpy Security under the pretence of being a Police Officer and conducting a search. In that incident, Harpy security employee Evonne Hendy was held with a knife at her throat.  Today, she visited our studios on Coney Drive to tell us about her ordeal. Hendy says she reported for duty at ten o’clock Tuesday night. She was there working out schedules for security guards when a man dressed in what looked like a police uniform came to the window of the building, located on Antelope Street.

“He said he was a police officer and he came to search the place. He went to the other window and he told me the same thing. So I opened the main door. We have a burglar barred door and I didn’t open that at the time. He stood to the side and he said he came to search the place. So I let him in and when I let him in, he went to the back door and he put a knife by my throat. He had his hands around me and told me if I said anything or call the police that he would come for me cause he knows my family. That he’s been looking at the spot for a couple days. He led me inside to a room where we have our storage, cleaning supplies for the cleaning lady; we have weapons in the first room. So he was questioning me about what was in the rooms. He then asked me about the first room where the weapons was. I told him that we don’t go there; the only thing we go to that room is to check the keys to make sure we have all the keys. He said well I must have the key and I told him I didn’t. He seemed like he was about to get arrogant at that time. All during this time, I didn’t get hurt or anything; he didn’t take anything. And the last thing he told me was to not look at his face and he told me that if I contacted the police that he would come for me. He left quickly and then he ran down the street. I informed my supervisor; I called him and told him what happened and he said he will be there shortly. He asked me if I contact the police and I said no. The reason why I didn’t is because he already threatened that he would come for me and I was scared because I’ve never been in a situation like this before. I contacted my boss, I text him—because he didn’t like us to call him—so I text him and he didn’t answer. The supervisor called him twice and he still didn’t answer. And the third time, he contacted us and told us that we needed to make a report. They came, they checked the cameras because we have cameras. They went over the video and I had to go to the station to make a report about what happened.”

what kind of security company gets robbed? don’t they have security? Don’t they have brains? and the security person who was inside manning the fort got scared? Jesus-what if the robbers got inside then told her to report every hour that all was OK while they robbed all over the place the other security guards are watching?
