Ousted President Jose Zelaya to tour Central America

Story PictureThere are more developments to report in respect of ousted President Jose Manuel Zelaya. Demonstrations continue to spread across Honduras and earlier today, supporters of the president marched pass the offices of the Congress while backers of the interim president, Roberto Micheletti took to the streets in what CNN described as a peaceful demonstration. Speaking from Panama and flanked by his Foreign Minister, Patricia Rhodas, Zelaya said that he will be back in Honduras this Sunday despite an international warrant for his arrest issued today by the Honduran police. Zelaya also announced that he will be traveling throughout Central America to meet with the regional leaders. It is not known where Zelaya will be stopping over in Belize on this tour but we know that Prime Minister Barrow is away in Guyana for a CARICOM Heads of Government Summit. The European Union today also announced it was recalling all its ambassadors from Honduras as the isolation of that country intensifies. An OAS delegation led by Secretary General Insulza is heading to Honduras on Friday from Guyana to attempt to restore Zelaya to office and report back to the OAS in Washington on Saturday where another special meeting will be convened. But Micheletti says it would take a foreign invasion to put Zelaya back in power.
