Troy Hyde Will Stand Trial for Murder
After more than a year on remand and a number of adjournments, Troy Hyde accused of the murder of George Street’s Kareem Lopez, aka “Robbery” learnt today that he will have to stand trial. A preliminary inquiry took place this morning in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith; Hyde was represented attorney Sheena Pitts. The prosecutor in the case, Inspector Pablo Pikney, presented a number of documents, including eleven statements from witnesses. Lopez was shot multiple times on Central American Boulevard on the night of January third, 2015 when he was exiting a Chinese store. The barrage of bullets caused a frenzy in the area as many persons ran for shelter when the gunman opened fire. Lopez’s attorney did not challenge any of the evidence so a prima facie case has been established and he will have to stand trial at the April session of the Supreme Court.
