Teenage chainsnatcher charged

Another daylight-jacking while not as dramatic as the Belmopan heist, has left a woman shaken, and a teenage boy in lock down. According to police, twenty-seven year old Shirlene Casimiro was standing in front of the Supreme Court around midday on Wednesday when a thirteen year old boy walked up to her, grabbed two chains from around her neck and took off running in the direction of Albert Street. But the victim would not part with her jewellery so easily and screamed for help. Two police officers patrolling near Battlefield Park responded and chased down the suspect on Albert Street. When they searched his pockets, police found one of the two missing chains in his possession. The out-of-school youth, a resident of Dean Street, has been arrested and charged for theft. Police have additionally charged him for committing a mischievous act because he initially gave police a wrong name.
