Suspected Liquor Thief Arraigned in Court

Michael Anthony Usher

The judiciary was busy today with the opening of the Supreme Court throughout the morning. When the Magistrate’s Court resumed session this afternoon, a businessman alleged he was robbed by a group of four men inside his business on Barrack Road. One of the men was caught on surveillance camera stealing beer and a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka. Twenty-five year old Michael Anthony Usher of Pinks Alley, Belize City, was arraigned for the theft.  He is being accused of stealing six Belikin from Amin’s Supermarket, whose owner is Ruhul Amin.  Usher, however, pleaded not guilty. Amin claims that four men including Usher enter his store, took a beer and paid for it, but stole six and the vodka.   While he pleaded not guilty, Usher tried to explain that he was drinking with his boss who had undertaken to pay the bill, but did not and now he is before the courts. Usher was granted, but could not meet bail and is due back in court on March first, 2016.
