Martinez Says Findings of Investigation Will Be Released Next Week

According to Minister Martinez, contrary to what is being said, the ministry is not dragging its foot with the independent investigation into the matter. But will the ministry wait until the conclusion of the investigation to make changes at the Youth Hostel?

“I am certain that changes have been made at Youth hostel—whether ensuring that the proper protocol is being followed throughout—I am certain that changes have been made. Both in terms of the policies and following the protocol of youth hostel and also too in terms of personnel, I think some changes have been made in terms of people moving around. And I think that apart from Youth Hostel, we are trying to ensure that the other institutions that we are responsible for like Dorothy Menzies and the old folks home; that everything is being followed in terms of the right protocol.”

“Is there anything in terms of the family getting kind of compensation for what happened to…the lost of their loved one?”

“Well the fine-tune investigation will point to as far as I understand, I think the ministry will be meeting with the Attorney General Ministry based on what I think might be what they can agree on or what will be suitable. They will be meeting with the Attorney General Ministry to get some legal advice base on the findings of the investigation.”

As you heard, the ministry will hold a press conference sometime next week to reveal the findings of the independent investigation.
