Rural Eastern Division Police Receive Significant Equipment Donation

The Rural Eastern Division today received a very significant donation from the Princess Hotel and Casino. There are thirty-two communities in that zone, spread over many miles. It’s a challenge to not only physically cover that wide an area, but also to maintain effective, real time communications between officers assigned to police the division. That’s where a new supply of high-tech, durable devices provided to Police by the Princess will play an invaluable role. According to R.E.D. Commander Edward Broaster, good police work leads to productive collaboration with the private sector, and that can only benefit the community.

“I believe that the work that we have been establishing and the relationship that we have been engaging with the community enables us to benefit tremendously from donations from them. When we have the citizens satisfied with the services being provided to them, it is only then that we will enable that environment for cooperation between the private sector and the Police Department as well as the community and the Police Department.”

“This donation was made to the Police Department. Our group helps the Police Department always. We need the Police and the people of Belize have to be very happy that they have this Police Department. We thank them. Especially we thank the Rural Eastern Division and this telecommunication plan was made to give them this donation.”

“This donation today is definitely going to help us with our Integrated Communication Equipment. We’ll be calling this RED ICE. It will help us to link data, text, visual as well as the Community Policing Efforts that we will be doing in the Rural Eastern Division. It will help us to communicate right across the Rural Eastern Division without any hindrance. Everybody will be able to get information in real time and rapidly as it’s needed.”

“Have you found that networking across the two thousand square miles of the Rural Eastern division has been a challenge?”

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster

“It has been a challenge, yes, hence the reason we are adopting the use of technology, the Whatsapp communication has been perfect for us and this donation of the ten rugged cell phones and ten phone tablets will definitely help us. We’ll be installing the phone tablets in our mobile units which will enable our officers to communicate with us through text, voice and video.”

The donation of ten rugged phones and ten phone tablets is valued at approximately thirteen thousand five hundred dollars.
