COLA Pleased With Announcement of FOB Groundbreaking
COLA applauding the government on any one thing is big. But imagine COLA commending government twice in one interview. That’s what happened today. President Geovanni Brackett and his organization led the charge for a Forward Operating Base at the Sarstoon, and the news of a groundbreaking next week is welcome. Of course, Brackett says that COLA’s role in these victories cannot be ignored.
Geovanni Brackett, President, COLA
“We are happy that the government and now the Coast Guard and the B.D.F. will build a joint operating base there. You know, in fighting these issues sometimes if you take the angle that the government chooses to select, you would not see the efforts that COLA has made. But if you tie down and you map what the government has decided to do…for example I was on the telethon to raise funds for the Vincent Ramos bust. Later on the Prime Minister decided to donate funding to finish paying for the bust. These are things that we have advocated for whether it’s other issues that government has jumped on. In regards to the base we are very pleased as well and we always advocate that there would be a groundbreaking to show the intention, to solidify the intention…to back it up and not to just give lip service.”
