Mayor Darrell Bradley on Election Loss

Darrell Bradley

Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley spoke candidly today about the results of last week’s elections. Bradley was beaten by Kareem Musa in Caribbean Shores by a slim margin. But a win is a win and Bradley went back to City Hall to continue his term as Mayor.  Today he said that he is moving on.

Darrell Bradley, Belize City Mayor

“It’s politics and in politics, there is a winner and there is somebody who is not the winner. And you go on. I have been beset by challenges in the past and it is something that you go on. I am somebody that is a fervent believer in service. I ran for mayor because I wanted to be of service to my community. I continue to be of service to the city and I continue to support and to be of service to the people of Caribbean Shores and the people of the U.D.P.  Elections are won and decided on by the people. The people give their vote and chose who they want to represent them. I believe that we ran a good campaign; I believe that we did a tremendous amount of work for the people of this city and the people of Caribbean Shores. But at the end of the day, it is the votes that count. So I cannot be upset about that; I cannot be…you move on. And I would want to again, congratulate Kareem; he is a professional colleague…we have worked on cases before. I think that he has a lot to offer to the people of Caribbean Shores; he is their representative now. And in whatever way that I can be a support to the people of Caribbean Shores even through him as their leader, I have to do that because the people are the ultimate ones who made the decision. He is the area representative. If there is any issue that he needs cooperation from the city or from me, he will have it one hundred percent because that is what a leader does. After elections, it is not U.D.P. or P.U.P.; it is about getting the people’s work finished and I will continue to do that at City Hall.”
