Officers attached to Precinct Four of the Belize Police Department hit the streets of Coral Grove this afternoon, where they did house to house visits with residents of that community. The effort is part of an ongoing initiative where the men and women of law enforcement are reaching out to the public they serve.
Supt. Linden Flowers, O.C., Precinct Four
“The response has been positive, I have been out here almost an hour now and the houses I have visited have been positive. It is a plus for me as the area commander because I have patrols out here daily. I have motorcycle, bicycle and vehicle patrol in these areas and each of the residents that I have been to, the people are saying that they are seeing the police , they appreciate how the police respond to instances where they had needed to call for the police early morning or midnight the police had responded as if it was daylight and properly dealing with the situation. There has been a decrease in terms of crimes of violence, there has been a decrease in the instance of drug arrest, when I came here august last year there were a number of persons that we would stop in different areas and would find cannabis, that has reduced. Some I have kept up a strike team an anti-crime patrol separate from our mandatory patrol so that we can respond to the needs of the citizens in this area.”
This afternoon, another team of officers led by Senior Superintendent Chester Williams also descended on south side Belize City where they met with residents of the Jane Usher Boulevard community. Isani Cayetano for News Five.
