Pablo Marin is Victorious in Corozal Bay

In Corozal Bay, Pablo Marin retained his seat in a hotly contested battle. Marin, who served as minister of health, has been battered by a number of scandals in that ministry. But on Wednesday, he fought hard to overcome. Duane Moody looks at the results in the Bay.

Corozal Bay was the battleground up north between Pablo Marin and Gregorio Papas Garcia Junior and Roy Rodriguez from the BBP Marin, the area representative, as Minister of Health reeled from scandal to scandal of dead rabies to rodents.  There are six thousand seven hundred and sixty-eight voters and on Election Day the machineries revved up to get the voters to the polling stations. The main contender Garcia and Rodriguez pulled all stops to unseat Marin. But just before ten on Wednesday night, the results would be in favor of Marin.

“The official results are as follows: Papas Garcia, twenty-three-sixty; Pablo Saul Marin, twenty-five-o-six; Roy Rodriguez, eighty-nine; rejected ballots, fifty-two. Total votes casted four thousand nine-fifty-five. Therefore the duly elected area rep. for the Corozal Bay is Pablo Marin.”

Garcia Junior in the 2012’s General Elections lost to Marin by a one hundred and forty-eight votes. Fast track to 2015’s national elections….Marin won by an almost identical margin of one hundred and forty-six votes, despite the fact that the division had increased its numbers by five hundred and thirty-one registered voters.

“We lost by one hundred and forty-six votes this time. So very tight but in the end, the people have decided and we have to respect their decision.”

“We know that, from what we were able to understand, there were some areas that you won and others where Pablo took the lead.”

Gregorio “Papas” Garcia Jr.

“Yes, definitely it was a cat and mouse game. Obviously, we improved in some areas, but we decreased in areas that we were strong and vice-versa for him. So that’s why the tally remained basically the same. But this is politics and the people decide.”

Moments later, Marin exited the counting station having secured victory for a second time.

“This is the best birthday gift I ever get, so…. First of all, I have to give thanks to god. He is the one that has delivered again for me. He knows my heart, he knows how I do things and I am always for my people. It’s not blue or red; it’s for everybody from Corozal and nationwide when I am in a position as the ministry of health, like I was the minister. This is something that is paid off; something that I can’t explain what all we went through in this election. But we knew eventually it would work to the best.”

While he was not victorious in Corozal Bay, Garcia Junior conceded graciously, saying he will remain active in the division.

Duane Moody

“Sir, moving forward, is Gregorio “Papas” going to make a bid in the next general elections?”

Gregorio “Papas” Garcia Jr.

“I’m not sure at this time. Right now I need some rest and then we can decide on that. But definitely we will be involved in the community wherever we can. That’s always been me so definitely we take a rest first and see what will happen.”

Bloody electrician! Cant even put a proper sentence together! And this is what will more than likely be returned to the Ministry of Health???? He and his evil CEO have traumatized that ministry and its employees for long enough. May the God that he thanks for his victory have mercy on us.
