Commander Mark Flowers on GSU’s Weekend Activity

Mark Flowers

The GSU’s weekend adventures, according to Flowers, led them from San Jose to the Belize Central Prison on a hunt for an elusive and perhaps mythical firearm. They never did find it. Because of the allegations of misadventure in San Jose, though, Flowers says that he has asked another officer to determine if the GSU officers did anything wrong.

Supt. Mark Flowers, Commander, Gang Suppression Unit

“We were able to recover sixteen cell phones, I understand, and a number of contraband including drugs and sharpened objects – borers as they are known in there. That operation lasted until four thirty this morning. It is from that operation there…so the Police are working. We’re not into going to ask anybody who you’re voting for or who you’re not going to vote for. That is not our business. That is not our traits. We noh do that.”

“Normally people would request an investigation to be done. Have you even brought in your officers to question if they in fact did it? You’re just taking their word for it?”

Supt. Mark Flowers

“No, No. I see the pun in all of this and I know these are my officers with whom I work, so it isn’t right for me to make a call for an investigation. The one thing you don’t want to do is appear to be biased. I might have my own biases towards my officers, so I have asked Mr. Chester Williams to look into it. I feel confident that he is fair-minded enough that if indeed there was in fact those activities – that he will not shun, that he will not shy and he will do what is necessary. But I am so confident that that is not true that I have asked one of the most fair-minded and legal minded persons in the absence of Mr. Bart Jones who also is a legal officer. But I have asked the legal officer to look into it and to make a determination.”

We tried to reach Eastern Division South Commander Chester Williams to verify if he is indeed investigating the GSU officers involved in the weekend raids. He didn’t answer our calls or text.
