PM Says Health Mishap Won’t Affect Minister’s Chances in Corozal Bay

Pablo Marin

The video of a rat in the incubator at the Western Regional Hospital has gone viral. But while the image is devastating, generally the rat is only one in a series of very significant and even tragic mishaps in the Ministry of Health stretching back many months. Will those mishaps affect the political candidacy of Minister of Health Pablo Marin? It’s a valid question, but Prime Minister Barrow says that he doesn’t see the state of health impacting Marin’s chances in Corozal Bay.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I don’t see how that will affect him in his constituency. There are undoubted problems…this business of the rat. Most unfortunate, but in the larger scheme of things, I don’t see it getting the kind of play at the constituency level in Corozal Bay that will do any harm to Pablo Marin’s chances.”

“Sir, continuing from that. There was a woman who died; I think she had a hysterectomy and she died at the K.H.M.H. after being brought from the Western Regional. The family had indicated that they plan to sue the hospital. Are you apprised of that and can we get a response on that?”

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“No, I knew that somebody had died. I understood the health authorities to say that there is a full scale investigation inquiry launched. I didn’t understand it to be the case that there is, as it were, irrefutable evidence that the unfortunate deceased died as a consequence of any negligence. I can see how the distraught family members will want to sue, but government certainly cannot admit any kind of liability, even in the absence of a proper investigation.”

This reply is just the kind of nonsense that is fed to the people. It doesn’t matter what happens to the people, it is all about getting the UDP Official elected. People open your ears, eyes and mouth, election time is the time to do it, vote Independent.
