Belize Progressive Party Wants FM Elrington Removed
Patrick Rogers may have been a little slow in publicly responding to Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington’s address to the UN General Assembly. The B.P.P.’s tardiness, however, does not take away from its firm position that Elrington must be removed from office as Belize’s Foreign Minister. According to Rogers, the Belize Progressive Party, as well as its political allies, has always been against going to the ICJ as it concerns the Belize-Guatemala dispute. The statement at last Friday’s world gathering, says the party leader, only serves to support the BPP’s fundamental view that Sedi must go.
Patrick Rogers
Party Leader, BPP
“Mister Elrington has reached that mindset like the British and the Americans wanted him to reach, that hey ih noh wahn affect you, you deh da Belize City. Da only di south gwein. So if he were a representative from Toledo, I don’t know if his psyche would have been the same going through this exercise. So our position is the man needs to be removed. If the prime minister didn’t want to reshuffle his cabinet and name a new foreign minister then the BPP is going to take their strongest candidate and put that candidate in Pickstock and give that candidate all the support needed to make what people say is impossible be very possible this time around.”
Isani Cayetano
“Interestingly, that individual is you, from what I’ve gathered. That you are now the Pickstock standard bearer for the Belize Progressive Party. With less than thirty days going forward where do you stand in terms of either hitting the ground running or trying to make certain inroads into that particular constituency?”
Patrick Rogers
“I’ll answer that question two ways Isani. In the business of building the movement we’re taught two things, that you can grow at a slow steady pace by recruiting followers but if you recruit leaders then you can grow exponentially. So our first effort was to focus on community leaders within the Pickstock Division and reach out to them and the response has been fantastic. And we know that by recruiting leaders, the leaders in the community will have a say and influence over people in their community to help swing that vote to real change with a difference because people have been voting for change Isani.”
wishing you all the luck guys. Elrington is the highest priority to be voted out of office. we dont need such spineless fools as a leader.
