Two Men Caught on Surveillance Tape Nabbed by Police

On Monday’s newscast we showed you the telling surveillance video of two brazen robbers, who entered a grocery store in Trial Farm, Orange Walk barefaced and robbed the proprietors of over four thousand dollars in cash and cell phones. The crime occurred just before ten p.m. last Friday and while the ordeal lasted only about three minutes, the authorities were unable to identify the men as residents of Orange Walk. Well today, a predawn operation by Belize City police led to the detention of the two men…who have been identified as Jarrett Crawford of Pregnant Alley in Belize City and Albert Wagner of Lord’s Bank. News Five spoke to Inspector Nicolas Palomo who says that the cell phones and only about three hundred dollars in cash were recovered.

On the Phone: Insp. Nicolas Palomo, Deputy O.C., Orange Walk Police Formation

“Because of the cooperation of the media and the public, we have both suspects detained. One is Albert Wagner, a resident of Lord’s Bank. The next one is Jarrett Crawford; he is a resident of Pregnant Alley, Belize City. Both have been detained. The detention was done by Belize City police officers who searched Jarrett Crawford’s house where they found two cell phones that have been positively identified by the Chinese grocer.”

“They were detained when?”

On the Phone: Insp. Nicolas Palomo

“Crawford was detained early this morning during a pre-dawn operation and Wagner was detained around one o’clock in Belize City.”

Duane Moody

“Sir does this confirm the concerns that police in Orange Walk have that perpetrators are coming into Orange Walk from other districts to do these crimes?”

On the Phone: Insp. Nicolas Palomo

“Yes sir, this confirms that most of the crimes in Orange Walk are being done…the violent crimes are being done by what you call transient criminals, which is people that come from other districts.”

According to Deputy O.C. Palomo, both Wagner and Crawford will be charged and arraigned on Wednesday morning in the Orange Walk Magistrate Court for the crime of Robbery.
