Keyren Tzib Bail Hearing Adjourned Yet Again

Keyren Tzib

Today, Keyren Tzib appeared in the Supreme Court for the third time since her arrest on July twentieth on a single count of manslaughter. The Coast Guard officer is seeking bail, but sitting Justice Troadio Gonzalez has maintained that before making a decision he has to be informed as to whether Tzib is a danger to herself or to society. Last week psychiatric nurse practitioner Ingrid Claire, who has been treating Tzib since 2011, took the stand. But it was determined that since she is not a psychiatrist, per se, her testimony would lack the necessary weight. With that Justice Gonzalez ordered that Tzib be taken before government psychiatrist Richard Alovera for an evaluation, and that he prepare a report. Alovera was on the stand today to answer questions on that report, but the matter was delayed again. News Five has learned that sometime between last Friday and today there was an incident at the prison involving Tzib, and that must now be taken into account in the determination of bail. With that, Justice Gonzalez adjourned the matter once again to allow Tzib’s attorney, Darrell Bradley, time to argue for bail on the basis of that incident. The matter has been adjourned to October thirteenth.
