2 Die in Separate Weekend RTAs
There were two traffic fatalities over the weekend in the Corozal District. On Sunday night, police found forty-five year old Dionicio Acosta of San Narciso Village dead on the San Narciso road. Celso Carerra of Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk District hit Acosta while driving his Nissan SUV. Carerra told police that Acosta was riding a bicycle and suddenly swerved in front of him causing the fatality. The accident is under investigations. Also on Sunday morning, seventy-year-old Elizabeth Romelia Rodriguez of Libertad Village succumbed to injuries sustained. She was knocked down as she headed to the store on Saturday night in Libertad by a vehicle whose driver transported her to the Corozal Community Hospital. Rodriguez was later transferred to the Northern Regional Hospital where she died. The vehicle was driven by the resident, twenty-year old Jomar Hercules.
