P.M. Responds to Espat’s Comments

Now, if you expected those comments by Espat to be unremarked, you would be wrong. The Prime Minister always seems to reserve special attention for Espat, and today was no exception.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“Let me start with the member for Cayo South. Now, Mr. Speaker, in his intervention he was rude, he was disrespectful, he was venomous, he was vulgar, he was reptilian and in the normal course this would illicit something in similar vein from me. But I don’t know if it’s because I am getting wiser as I get older. I don’t know if it is because I can’t stand as long as I use to, but bottom-line is, I will not treat with the member for Cayo South except to say this. A long time ago and I really ought to have employed it in the case of Cayo South before now. Long time ago I heard somebody say, never wrestle with a pig. Because you both get dirty but the pig likes it, you that don’t like it, can’t win, you both get dirty but the pigs like it. So last words to the member for Cayo South, Mr. Pig…I refuse to join you in the mud.”

Espat was not present when those remarks were directed at him. If he were there, things would likely have gotten very interesting. We’ll have more on the house later on in the newscast.
