What’s the Motive Behind Murder of Joel Bishop?

GSU Commander, Superintendent Mark Flowers, also attended the meeting to express the GSU’s perspective in dealing with the criminal activities in these areas. However, on Monday, a motive has not been definitively ascertained as to what led to the murder of Bishop. News Five asked Senior Superintendent Williams if during the mediation, they were able to find out the motive behind the incident.

Sr. Supt. Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South

“Miss Phillips has her reason why she said that and as you said; the investigation is being conducted by north side. Yes, over this side, because the persons involved are from south side, we may have heard certain things. But I will not speculate. She can speak from a more authoritative perspective in the sense that she has the information at hand, she knows what the investigation contains and I think she is in a better position to say what the motive would be rather than I can. So I am not going to speculate on that.”

“Sir, but during that mediation, you guys must have questioned these persons as to what could have caused this incident on Saturday. Can you disclose that to us because you would need that information to get down to the matter so that you can solve the dispute between both gangs?”

Sr. Supt. Chester Williams

“I will tell you that in mediation, there are certain things that we do that must be kept confidential. I need to ensure that whatever it is that I discuss with these people that certain information does not get out to the public because it could be even more detrimental than anything. So yes, as you have said you would want to know, but I am not at liberty at this time to disclose some of our discussion that we have in our mediation session.”

“Sir it is not even about the media. It is more about the family of Mister Bishop wanting to know, getting closure as to why someone killed their loved one whom they are saying wasn’t involved in any criminal activity.”

Sr. Supt. Chester Williams

“Well that closure will be given to them by Northern Commander. They are the ones who are conducting the investigation. They have more access to more credible and reliable information than we do. Miss Phillips has said that she cannot ascertain a motive at this time. I am certain that she has a reason why she has said so and I am not going to go against that.”

Duane Moody

“Sir have you been able to ensure that there will be no kind of retaliatory events happening in the aftermath of this incident, despite the intervention?”

Sr. Supt. Chester Williams

“Well the fact that I had an intervention session with the players involved clearly shows that my stand is…you went over to north side and war; do not bring the war back over to south side. If you bring the war back over to south side, then I will consider that as disrespecting me and a different song will be singing then.”

Williams says that follow up meetings will be held with members from these gangs and other policing strategies will remain in these areas.

I don’t usually use the street language, being educated and being the son of a woman who stressed education and proper grammar, but DAMN! SMDH! Is that how you say it? After all that money you hustled from turning your head to illegal activities, hustling Lee Mark who owns Choon Saan, and getting away with unlawful sex with a minor while living in Pen Road, and using your illegal proceeds to go get a certificate in Jamaica, you use that sort of response and language in your final response Chester. Whew! Even though you went in dumb as a doorknob at SJC Sixth Form, a teacher by the name of F.S. would cry shame of the efforts she exerted to try to help you. These are the nincompoops we have in high positions in our law enforcement.

“VENGEANCE IS MINE” says THE LORD. And he is not sleeping.

    That’s your motive.

Murder charges withdrawn against four defendants

The Director of Public Prosecutions has withdrawn charges of murder against four men. This afternoon Darren Banks, Joel Bishop, Joseph Bishop, and Akeem Logan-Gotoy appeared before Magistrate Sharon Fraser where they were informed of their good fortune. According to Fraser, while the murder charges have been dropped, she was not certain if the D.P.P. wanted the conspiracy and abetment to murder counts to remain. She assumed he did and granted the men bail of six thousand dollars, which they met. They are to return to court on March twentieth. The charges against the men are in connection with the September 2005 murder of Sherwin Requeña and attempted murder of Dona Magdaleno Cayetano. Those charges, along with dangerous harm, still stand against Evan Neal and Edward Lord, who were arrested along with the four. Requeña was gunned down at the corner of Zacaranda and Oleander streets as he stood talking to Cayetano, his neighbour.
