Trio of Fake Cops Pulls Off Home Invasion Near Boom Cutoff

Edward Broaster

A scary home invasion took place on Sunday night around ten on the Boom Road near its junction with the George Price Highway. A family was inside their home when three men fully clothed and masked presented themselves as law enforcement officers and proceeded to rob the family when they let them inside their home. While unable to say if the assailants were armed, the family said that they were robbed of cash and then they were attacked. That attack didn’t quite go as planned but the assailants escaped. Police are looking for the three suspects whom they believe are from the area. Senior Superintendent Edward Broaster tells us more.

Sr. Supt. Edward Broaster, Rural Regional Commander, Eastern Division

“We received information last night that about ten p.m that the home of Irma Ortiz along with Augustine Ramos, three men dressed in camouflage and mask rapped on their door and said police. They opened their door because they saw that they had on camouflage and thought that it was police. The three men rushed into the house and held them up and stole about five hundred dollars from them. Mr Ramos managed to flee the house and when to the neighbor and got the help to call the police. The police arrived there very quickly, I must say, the Rural Rapid Response Team got there and they were pointed to the direction in which the three men fled and they pursued along with some civilians ex B.D.F. members. They were not successful in capturing these three men; however, Mr Ramos reported that one of the men tried to hit him with a block but managed to miss him and caught one of the three suspects. So, one of the three suspects was injured. They all spoke Spanish. This morning, again, the Rural Rapid Response did a search of the area where they followed a trail that led to a trailer park and they found two shirts along with a bloody rag. We have those in our custody and we are asking the public if they know of anybody that may have been injured in the area to please feel free to call us and inform us of those individuals.”
