Andrade Says COLA Figures Are Incorrect

Valdemar Andrade

When asked if COLA’s projections for losses of two point five million dollars in revenue are accurate, Andrade says that the figures are erroneous due to constant changes with the tentative schedule.

Valdemar Andrade, Director of Destination Planning & Cruise, B.T.B.

“I would say it is inaccurate because I can’t tell you whether we stand to lose until I have a final call schedule.  I can’t tell you that we stand to lose at any point in time because it is a regular process and it’s not only Carnival.  All the port agents send in their lists and say okay we went to change this, we want to add this, we want to adjust this schedule.  Sometimes it’s just the same ship but a different day because they want to change it from a three ship day to a two ship day, from a four ship day to a three ship day.  So it’s a lot of management that comes into the scheduling that is why I have to say that it’s a complete misrepresentation of what happens during the process because many times more calls are added than fourteen calls.  We have a long list and we have to ensure that the days are available on those days.”

The high season commences in November and peaks in December during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
