Said Musa Supports Francis Fonseca in Wake of Boycott

The G-twelve in the P.U.P. has not been heard from since their boycott of national executive and standard bearers meetings in the past two weeks. That is except for Dan Silva who explained his position on Sunday for attending the start of the party’s “Power to the People” Tour in San Ignacio. Now, from what we gather, there has been an approach by the group to meet the party leader, Francis Fonseca, but that has not been entertained. This morning, former party leader and former Prime Minister, Said Musa, gave his views on the rebellion against Fonseca. Having experienced a similar revolt at the time of the G-seven in 2004, Musa endorsed the way Fonseca has been handling the boycott by standard bearers.

Said Musa, Former Party Leader, P.U.P.

“Francis Fonseca, if I can say so, is not only a very honest, unassuming, humble leader; he is also a leader with a strong back bone of steel. That man, I admire that mostly about him.   He is very firm in his determination. When he believes in something, when he stands for something, you can depend on Francis Fonseca. He will be there with you. That is a great quality you know, we tend to forget it sometimes. He is a person of conviction. He is a man of principle and yes, he knows because he has been in government before that there will always be differences in the camp, even dissidence in the camp. He knows. I have been through it and he is going through it. He knows that at the end of the day, once we keep moving forward and once we keep articulating our message to the Belizean people,  because they are the ones that matter most of all, not so much the standard bearers. Standard bearers are just standard bearers we are just carrying the flag.  We are just representing the people, or we should represent the people. We should never lose sight of that and that is where Francis Fonseca as the leader commands my full respect and full support. I will be there with him every step of the way so long as there is strength in me to fight this cause. We are fighting because we believe that we, the People’s United Party, can make life better for the Belizean people. Once we continue on this path. Once we show the people. Once we offer them the hope, once we show them that we have a leader with a vision for the future, yes we need to always be conscious of the past because once we forget the past those will continue to make mistakes in the future.”

  2. carlos says:

Did he believed in the signing of the secrete during your administration (PUP) ? Did he believe that this would have come to hunt him during his leadership ? If he really believes in unity of the party , he would sit down and discuss. Where is his skills of diplomacy? Listen to the people, you will regret it if you are hard head. For the benefit of the party , this is not a matter of ” having a strong backbone of steel ” . A good leader listen and compromises to bring unity in the party.

  3. sickntired says:

  4. Concern says:

Geez farmer did you think udp were concern about the money. The broke up the bus service and took it for themselves. 30 mil was not their prob, they wanted sure money maker to invest in and took it!

  5. Concern says:

The real brass face are those who felt they fooled the public like yourself by making the 30 mil sound like a big scandal and turn around and deliberately set up the Novelo’s company as a sure failure, just so they can take all their assets which they build over more than a 40 years period. Then people like farmer pretended not to see idea behind the wicked plot, and even today can’t see the end result… It was well orchestrated and planned from 2005!
