Crime Filled Weekend Across the Country Highlighted in Police Report

In addition to the stabbing death of Thytis Blancaneaux and the two murders, the weekend’s crime blotter is overflowing with more acts of violence. In Orange Walk, police are investigating the attempted murder of twenty-one year old Herson Adiel Diaz and nineteen year old Fernando Enrique Carrillo both of San Lazaro. The duo was reportedly attacked with a machete on Friday night in the village by a person who goes by the name of “Cuchillo,” which translates in English to knife.  In the Belmopan area, police visited the Western Regional Hospital on Sunday night where Moses Ayala, a Honduran national, reported that he and William Zuniga, a Belizean truck driver of Armenia, were approached by three men who demanded they hand over their money.  When the alleged victims responded that they did not have any, one of the assailants stabbed Ayala. The trio of robbers then fled the scene.  Police are also investigating a stabbing incident at Jalacte Street, Maya Mopan, Belmopan, in which Samuel Yaxcal was stabbed on the abdomen.  Yaxcal was heading home when a man approached him demanding to buy his gold chain. When he refused to sell, he was stabbed.
