Cardinal Lemott Detained for Murder

Cardinal Lemott

A teen believed to have been involved in the brutal murder of two American nationals in Teakettle more than a month ago was apprehended this weekend in Belize City. Due to an alert which was circulated in the past few weeks, nineteen year old Cardinal Lemott was identified during a routine search in the city. He was detained and handed over to be charged. Superintendent Howell Gillett told us that while the charge at this time is burglary, they expect to levy a charge of murder before too much time passes.

“During a routine exercise by the Belize City Police this person was searched and one of the officers recognized that he was wanted by Belmopan. So with that collaboration he was taken into our custody over the weekend. He was wanted because on the fifteenth of May of this year two Americans lost their lives during a very heinous murder. Those two Americans were Julian Christopher Jones and Mr. Paul David Signorino who unfortunately lost their lives. This morning, today, Mr. Cardinal Lemott, nineteen years of dual addresses – St. Matthews in the Cayo district as well as Belize City – was charged with burglary and he was taken before the Magistrate’s Court here in Belmopan. His case has been adjourned until August twenty-eighth of this year. Other charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses. Also noteworthy is that Shaylon Santos was charged for this same incident. The investigation is not concluded so we will continue to investigate and whatever charges may present themselves later in the investigation will be levied against these two persons. As I alluded to earlier we are extremely happy with the support we have gotten from the Belize City Police in the capture of Mr. Lemott.”
