Guidelight to Hold Vigil for Slain Youths
The murder of two young students in the past week stunned the country. Fifteen year old Tarique Thompson and sixteen year old Ruben Leslie were mercilessly gunned down in separate incidents and Guidelight Productions wants to remind the public of these senseless killings by holding a vigil in their memory on Tuesday night. News Five spoke with the organizers today.
Andrew Munnings, Executive Director, Guidelight Production
“The death for Tyrique and Ruben, we saw it fit to do it more earlier because one of the things is that Belizeans only use their voices when big things happen. One of the things we wanted to do with this vigil, we want it to be a platform for voices. We want people to know that they count, that they are the movement for Belize not only when someone dies we want them to speak out.”
Sabreena Daly, PR, Guidelight Production
“The venue will be Battlefield Park beside Brodies. It is six o’clock p.m. Everybody is invited but particularly you can look out to see testimonies, singing. We want it to be kinda like a reunited body of Belizeans. We want to invite everybody from everywhere to come because the families of the two boys that died will be there and we will get to see them how they react and be there to support them.”
