House collapses and resident homeless

Story PictureA house in the Lake Independence area of Belize City toppled over early this morning. Luckily none of the occupants were at home. Simeon Thompson had only just left his home and his girlfriend was visiting family down south. Shortly after reaching his work site, Thompson got a message that something was wrong at his home. Our News Five team accompanied him to Mahogany Extension, when he first saw the wreck that was left behind.

Simeon Thompson, Home Destroyed
“Dis morning I left my house about seven-thirty and while I was at my work doing a little paint; a little part time thing, one of my neighbor told me my house just drop. It really hurt me.”

Jose Sanchez
“Are you just seeing your house?”

Simeon Thompson
“I’m just seeing it now, since I left from where I was doing my hustling, noh.”

Jose Sanchez
“You were under the impression that it just fell of the stilts?”

Simeon Thompson
“It fall off the pillars, noh and thank God I wasn’t in it. I left in time but I would like the area representative to look into the matter. You know because I’m here in Lake I for over ten years now and it seems that they are not looking out for us right now, you know and I would really like a little assistance, noh.”

Jose Sanchez
“Have you lost everything?”

Simeon Thompson
“You could call it everything, cause I don’t know where I’m going to stay tonight. Right now its pressure, it’s all I can say. I just pray God for a little assistance.”

If there is anyone who can assist Thompson in his time of need, you can call his sister’s residence at 207-4355.
