Are Inmates Allowed Home Visits?

When Michael Robinson spoke out about conditions at the prison in early June, he mentioned that certain privileged inmates were given temporary “get out of jail” cards which allowed them free time outside of prison walls. That’s certainly not a new allegation, but tonight Staine confirmed that it does happen.

“Yes they do have home visits. That is when you get your home visit granted through the Administration because only administration can grant it. They have a policy where the officers escort the inmates to their house in the general society and have them spend a period of time with their family, but to my knowledge I don’t every recall it happening on a weekend.”

“But this happens. You can say for sure that this happens where inmates are allowed to leave the prison compound?”

“Yes it did…because I was posted at Tango Seven when Leslie Pipersburgh was taken for a home visit. They’re escorted by officers, QRT officers to be exact. It’s not regular officers like myself. It has to be officers from the QRT Department who escort them home and bring them back.”
