Former P.U.P. Area Rep Goes Candid on Election Readiness

Ivan Ramos

As we told you on Monday, Ramos said he believes he was dropped for a more “viable” candidate that the P.U.P. seems to think will be a better match for Dangriga powerhouse, Frank “Pawpa” Mena. But we had to ask Ramos if he thought he stood a chance against Mena. He said that undoubtedly he could have defeated Mena, but what about his replacement, Anthony Sabal.

Andrea Polanco

“Would you say that of Anthony Sabal?”

Ivan Ramos, Resigned from House of Representatives

“I can’t speak for him. I sure he has his strategy and the party has its own strategy how they will go about that. So I cannot speak for him.”

“How do you foresee this going? We have Frank Pawpa Mena who is no stranger to politics in Dangriga and then you have Anthony Sabal, who is pretty new to the political field, I believe it’s less than a month since he has been on the ground. Do you think this will go in favour or against the P.U.P.?”

Ivan Ramos

“Andrea, my involvement in politics has taught me that winning an election means that you work for it and that’s what I did in my time; I work for it. So that is the business of both parties to put their machinery together and make sure they have the outcome that they want.”

“Do you think the P.U.P. is ready for a general election?”

Ivan Ramos

“Well, Andrea, I have been around that table and I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to divulge certain things. The party presented a platform for what they say is change, and what they are going about and obviously this is part of the change as they say it. And when I went to a meeting with the Hon Rodwell Ferguson and my other colleagues he opened the meeting by saying something to that effect, ‘Honorable we are here this evening because you know that the party will be making changes and it will affect even people like Said Musa and Dangriga is one of the divisions that the change will also affect. I don’t think the Honorable Rodwell Ferguson had the authority to speak like that. So, if this is part of the change, what is the fuss?”

Ramos told us that, going forward, he will not be participating in any political events or campaigns.
