Charlie Card Perishes in Road Traffic Accident in Toledo District

The second fatality took the life of seventy-three year old Isidoro Galvez of Hicatee Village in Toledo District. Around midnight on Saturday, police came across an extensively damaged Mazda pickup near mile twenty on the Southern Highway. Inside the vehicle was forty-six year old Magarita Cal, the common-law wife of Galvez. They were both travelling to Big Falls when Galvez lost control of the vehicle. Charlie Card, as he was affectionately known, was flung from the vehicle and received severe head and body injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Cal received injuries to the right leg and remains hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. tonight. Superintendent Simeon Alvarez, spoke with News Five via phone today about the tragic accident.

“Sometime around twelve midnight on Saturday the night, the sixth of June 2015, the police received information of a traffic accident in the Hicatee village area, mile twenty on the Southern Highway. As a result of that, the police responded and upon arrival there, fifty feet off the highway, they saw a grey double cab Mazda pickup extensively damage and on the passenger seat was one Margarita Cal, forty-six years old. Flown out of the vehicle, next to the vehicle was Isidoro Galvez, seventy-three years old, both Hicatee Vilalge. The information is that they were both travellign from hicatee to Big Falls when the incident occurred. The driver at the time, Mister Galvez was fatal on the spot. The passenger, who is the common-law of the deceased, was then taken to the Punta Gorda Hospital where she was treated and then transferred to Dangriga and at present she is at the K.H.M.H. while the body of Galvez is at the Punta Gorda morgue awaiting a postmortem.”
