2 Dead in Motorcycle Collision

David McPherson

Two men are dead and a woman is hospitalized after an accident on Thursday night in Southern Belize. The collision of two motorcycles, traveling in the same direction, claimed the lives of thirty-two-year-old David McPherson and twenty-eight-year-old William Triguero. Shortly after eight p.m., between miles five and six on the Hummingbird Highway, police say the men crashed and were flung from their cycles. McPherson and Triguero suffered massive head and body injuries and died within minutes. They were both transported to the Southern Regional Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. Travelling on a motorcycle along with Triguero was twenty-six-year old Lucita Chun. She received a huge gash to the forehead and is hospitalized at the K.H.M.H.  When we spoke with the families today, they said they were too devastated to give an interview. McPherson had shortly left his Sittee River home to go into town to purchase gas and was heading out to visit his family in Cayo when he met in the accident. Triguero had just left Dangriga Town as well and was heading home to Sarawee Village. Police say the motorcycles were badly damaged and discovered facing each other.
