Will Santi Support His Cause?

Darrell Bradley

According to Bradley, several former and current Caribbean Shores soldiers and other officials from the U.D.P. hierarchy will be at the convention this weekend.  But is the mayor getting the support from sitting area rep., Santiago Castillo Junior? As we said, after three years in office, in mid-April of this year, Castillo Junior formally announced he won’t be seeking re-election leaving the field open for Bradley. It is an open secret that there is no love lost between the two, so today the mayor was asked if Castillo will offer support on Sunday.

Darrell Bradley, Standard Bearer, Caribbean Shores

“We’ve invited him and we have invited past representatives. There are invitations that have gone out to Carlos Perdomo; we’ve also tried to get other leaders in the area…Manuel Esquivel is somebody who I’ve looked up to tremendously. So that we’ve tried to reach out to everybody including his people to bring them onboard in relation to working with our committee, working with our vision in the area. It is a campaign of inclusion. One of the things that I practice as a policy is that we go to everybody irrespective of political party. We try to bring in every single person so that while it is a U.D.P. convention, we want every single person who wants to see a better Caribbean Shores come out and enjoy. It’s an opportunity to see your leadership, to hear from the prime minister, to hear from other speakers; to hear what specific plans we have for Caribbean Shores and just to feel the energy and moment of the campaign. It is something that we want to be inclusive and everybody to come out who wants a better Caribbean Shores.”

“However, you still haven’t answered my question. Will Santino be attending; have you all had any conversation?”

Darrell Bradley

“Jules that is a conversation you need to ask him. I know that we, in terms of our heart, is always a heart that wants to bring people together. We’ve had meetings—he and I—in terms of transition because of course he is still the sitting representative and there are some transitional things which have gone on in relation to going forward. But if he is going to attend the convention; that’s not something that you ask me. How will I know?”
