Wheel Chair Man Charged For Drug Possession
A Belize City man, who is not sure of his age, but claims he is twenty-three years old and is confined to a wheel chair was dragged to court today to answer to a single charge of Possession of a Control Drug. When he was arrested, Berris Rowland, was on West Collet Canal in possession of eighteen grams of weed found hidden under the cushion of his wheelchair. This morning, officers from the Queen Street Police Station escorted Rowland on his wheelchair to court and taken before Magistrate Herbert Panton. The crippled man pleaded guilty to the single offense and was fined a hundred dollars, which he is to pay by July second, 2015, or serve a month in prison. After his arraignment, friends of Rowland assisted him out of court and down the stairs since he is unable to walk. This is Rowland’s first conviction for Possession of a Control Drugs. He spent a night in lock down at the Queen Street Police Station and was taken to court today.
