Hurricane Shelters for Hurricane Season!

Phillip Willoughby

Councilor Phillip Willoughby who has been instrumental in hurricane preparedness also spoke on the utilization of designated hurricane shelters.

Phillip Willoughby, City Councilor

“I would like to take this opportunity to advise the public that this is not your  home and we have to be careful how we occupy the shelters in the sense that we won’t go and occupy and damage and break as history has shown. You are utilizing this structure, it is a school, after the storm has paste, it transition back to a school and it had to be functional. So we take this opportunity to advise the public it is just for you to occupy for a short period of time, do not go to vandalize and break up the assets of the school. The public can also use the Belize City Council website where you can get the information that relates to CEMO and its functions. Likewise there is the NEMO website where they can download all the information also. So it outline all committees, what it does and how it functions and so forth.

Across Belize City, signs have been erected along the primary evacuation routes.
