Wanted Men Extradited to Belize

A trio of Belizean fugitives wanted for individual crimes, including murder, has been extradited by Mexican authorities.  The handing over took place on Saturday morning at the Belize/Mexico Border where thirty-year-old Errol Haynes, twenty-five-year-old Anthony Barrow and thirty-four-year-old Jorge Vidal were formally surrendered to local authorities.  Haynes was being sought for possession of a prohibited item, namely, a firearm silencer.  He was also on the lam after being arraigned on drug trafficking charges.  Barrow, on the other hand, was wanted for firearm and ammunition offences, while Vidal was being sought for murder.  Barrow and Haynes, according to police, had been serving time in Mexico and were deported upon their release.  In February 2011, both men were nabbed by Mexican marines inside an apartment in Calle, a city in the state of Nayarit.  Inside the building was a cache of assault of rifles and matching ammunition.  They each served five-year sentences after being charged in a Mexican federal court.  Vidal, who absconded following the December 2005 murder of Hortencio Contreras is expected to face trial in Belize.
