Unknown Assailant Opens Fire on Vehicle Near Monkey River

Raphael Martinez

And one more story on the weekend’s gun violence. A vehicle carrying several men returning to Monkey River Village on Sunday, after an evening of socializing at a football game in Independence, was assaulted by an unknown gunman as it traveled along the deserted road late at night.  Several occupants of the pickup truck received minor injuries during barrage of bullets.  While no one was gravely wounded, police are yet to make an arrest in the wake of the shooting.

Raphael Martinez, Police Press Officer

“One, twenty-six-year-old Victor Mason Cuevas of Monkey River Village, he said that at about eleven-fifteen on Sunday night while he was actually coming back from a football game in Independence Village he had several of his friends in the back of his pickup truck as well when several shots were fired at them and it caused minor injuries to both of the men riding in this pickup truck.”

An investigation into the late night attack remains ongoing.
