Maskall Police Station Finally Renovated

Edmond Castro

For many months there have been complaints about the dilapidated, abandoned and empty Police Station in Maskall. There hasn’t been an officer stationed there because it is only fit for rodent habitation. The situation is critical and has been for some time. Currently when there is need for the police, officers come from Sand Hill or all the way from Ladyville, which doesn’t really make for a quick response. Today we asked Area Representative Castro is there is any plan in place to address that concern.

Edmond Castro, Area Rep., Belize Rural North

“That is true, or should I say…that was true. That’s no longer the case. We renovated the Station in Maskall over the past few months…I think a month ago. It is over ninety percent complete, so the officer, Inspector Gordon, promised me that as of Monday, or this weekend, the Police Officer now responsible for Maskall can move into the Police Station because the renovation process has been completed. We’re also in the process of renovating the Police Station in Sandhill. The person just won the bid I think it was last week Tuesday or Wednesday. We also did some repair work and renovated the Police Station in Bermudian Landing. I think that’s all the Police Stations in the Belize Rural North area.”
