Security guard charged for burglary at Education Dept.

Story PictureA security guard has been charged for the burglary of the offices of Ministry of Education that occurred sometime between July seventh and eighth. Over fourteen thousand dollars worth of items were stolen. Last Friday, police had a break when they searched an abandoned house located at the lower flat of a building on Mahogany Street Extension, where Carlos Hall resided. Inside police say they found the stolen items along with documents belonging to Hall. This morning, Hall was charged by Magistrate Tracy Sosa with one count of handling stolen goods. He pleaded not guilty and was offered bail in the sum of five thousand dollars plus two sureties of two thousand five hundred dollars which he met before twelve this afternoon. According to police, Ms. Christine Longsworth, a Technician at the Education Department reported that when the offices were burglarized the thieves made away with assorted computer hardware. Police say they have since recovered some, but not all, of the items. Interestingly, Hall was not the security guard on duty at the time of the burglary. He claims he is presently employed with Alliance Security Company and hopes to keep his job despite the allegations. Carlos Hall is due back in court on September seven.
