Retrial ordered for woman charged in 2004 chopping

A woman who thought her trouble with the law was over, will have to return to court for a new trial. Delita Chavez, who was charged along with her mother for her role in the 2004 chopping of Kimberley Myers, had her abetment to dangerous harm charge dismissed earlier this year by Justice Adolph Lucas. Unsatisfied with that outcome, Director of Public Prosecutions Kirk Anderson appealed the ruling. The Court of Appeal today agreed with the D.P.P., reversed Lucas?s ruling, and ordered a retrial for Chavez. Her mother, Mehetebel Slusher, didn’t have much luck in Appeals Court either when on June fifteenth the Justices ruled that instead of having to pay five thousand dollars for her dangerous harm charge, Slusher should instead spend two years in prison.
