Has Beleaguered F.F.B. Executive Rawell Pelayo Tendered His Resignation?

Rawell Pelayo

Following a congress of the Football Federation of Belize last Saturday, President Ruperto Vicente informed the media that embattled second vice president Rawell Pelayo was expected to tender his resignation from the post in the days ahead.  The Orange Walk businessman and F.F.B. executive was recently deported to Belize after serving time in a U.S. prison for his alleged role in drug trafficking.  While the issue of his status in the organization was not discussed during the meeting, it was expected that Pelayo would relinquish the post without much hassle.  Earlier today, we asked Vicente for an update on Pelayo’s intended resignation.

“I am just coming back, I left the country on Tuesday so I have not been informed by the office whether we have received that letter of resignation or not.  But I know the congress, the reason the item was removed from the congress agenda is because there had been an indication that Mr. Pelayo will submit a resignation.  So if that has not been received then we will have to move to other matters and meet with Mr. Pelayo and find out when he is going to submit that resignation.”
